Sigh, another long scale 5-string when I'm looking for short or medium scale 4-string. Sure is pretty, though.

It musr be Joey's Tiger Emerald, and the pictures suggest it has been well looked after.

I had bought this bass from Joey about 5 years ago. I ended up sending it back to him as there was a hairline crack where the fingerboard meets the neck (B-string side, near the nut). I also paid less than half the amount it's going for now! Also, now sure why it's being listed as a "CLB." It's an Elan.

Good to know, the crack and price hike. i looked at buying that bass a few years ago when it came up for sale. I quite liked the idea of a p style 5 string. Was the crack the result of trauma/ impact or de-laminations of the neck woods. Shame, it is a beauty. Maybe the seller should get it checked out/repaired by alembic. Then it coikd be safely mentioned.

It was a slight separation at the end of the fingerboard at/beneath the adjustable nut.  Nothing a good repairman couldn't seal up in nothing flat, unless I'm sorely mistaken.  I'd never seen it nor noticed it until I sold it and heard from the buyer, an honest mistake on my part, but again, I could be wrong, I can't see this being anything that a good repairman couldn't remedy really quick.

A shame this seems to follow this axe, it's easily the best five I ever played.  Had I known about it and times had been different and I could have kept it, any of several repairmen here in Nashville would have spot-glued it and smoothed/buffed the spot, and that would have been that.

This bass lived a very careful life when I had it, and was never dropped, abused, or ignored.  I think the pics will bear that out.  I was always very fussy about my Alembics.

But to be honest, I can only speak of my time with it, and have no clue where it's been since I sold it.  But it was babied when it was here.

I usually don’t like tinted basses, but that thing is beautiful!  :)

If that bass was over here in the UK, i would most likely have tried to work out a deal on it and sold my bocate europa to offset the cost.

I have dealt with these folks before and they are very nice. As far as pricing goes, they cater to a pretty well heeled crowd.
