Odd Static on 93 Epic
« on: October 27, 2021, 06:14:56 AM »
Hi all! The last few times I've played my Bubbly Baby I'll get a, not really static, but a almost a rat-a-tat-tat but pulling and reinserting the cord usually clears it up for a while. Twiddling the treble knob will also sometimes clear it. Otherwise signal is crazy clean. I've rotated the knobs to make sure I'm clear on the pots but it does not give it a fix for long. New battery is in. Everything looks clean in the electronics cavity. What am I missing? Any pointer would be appreciated!

Sounds like a cellphone, a wifi repeater - that sort of thing.

Hi Adriaan,

There hasn't been any changes in the 1.5 years I've owned it in my small condo. No repeater for my little place and the other 3 units are also small with older folks living here with, again, no change in owners. This started about 2 months ago. Being a small building though is it possible for a cell hone from a different unit to be impacting it? Doesn't matter where I am in my home. I will take it to my shop across the street and see if it could be environmental to here though.

Thanks for the tip! I'll dig in to that idea tomorrow!

Well, took me a couple weeks now that I'm back to work but found the issue. After my disc replacements I've had to wear a bone growth stimulator device. Seems that when it's charging it cycles causing the intermittent interference. I knew I couldn't play with it on as it covers my neck around my shoulders but once plugged in to charge I thought it was off. Not completely, I found. Once fully charged and unplugged, no problems. Bass worked fine across the street, but didn't put two and two together until last week!

As always, love the advice here. Even when I can't reconcile it quickly!

Happy playing everyone!

Rich

Yes, thanks for the update. I had another instance where an insulin pump caused some strange noises - a simple repositioning fixed that issue. I guess I have to start asking if there are any automated medical devices worn at the same time now!
