(x) Serial number request Series I #76-270
« on: September 30, 2021, 04:48:11 AM »
OK, i've had this bass for a few months now, and i play it quite often.  It just oozes '70's old school vibe.  I've heard mention that this bass is special, and so i'd like to find out more about it as it looks like we're gonna shack up for a while.  So, if i may, i'd like to know whatever you have on the build and history of this instrument.

thanks in advance!

<edit>  just outta idle curiosity, i shuffled a coupla pages back in this forum and found this:

https://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=26021.0

so i think that answers most of my questions, unless there's more knowledge lurking out there somewheres...

Looks like a note about some modifications found its way to the file in the meantime. In 2005 the owner in Florida had us:

  • Install a new adjustable nut
  • new bird tailpiece
  • repair a crack in the control cavity
  • install threaded inserts
  • new fingerbaord
  • dual truss rods
  • fill in a hole by a strap pin in lower horn
  • new case
There's a note that says "mini switch?" but I can't tell if either one was replaced. And no mention of refinishing - I checked the invoice and it wasn't mentioned there either, so it must have predated this work.
