Edwin, a long time regular around here, has a sweet custom made leather bag for his bass.  I imagine he will soon see this thread and check in with some info for you.

I have had gig bags available at various times, unfortunately the companies that made these custom gig bags have folded.

That being said, I did just get off the phone with Chronkhite and will be sending them some templates for a few instruments. Your Scorpion is probably going to need a custom size beyond the templates I'm setting them up with, but they are more than willing to work with you on the project.

Mike, I can NOT help you in anyway shape or form.  But I do love seeing pictures of unique Alembics.  A long scale scorpion sounds super cool… would love to see a picture or two.

Mica, that's exciting news.

I had to look it up but ... I had contacted Glenn Cronkhite in 2015 about either repairing my old Reunion Blues bags or making something to fit my 4-ft long Series II.  His initial reaction was: "I am amazed that you like this bag so much given the fragility of the Alembic basses".  I explained that I had been using them for about 30 years and never had any issues - even with my omega points.    But at that time his only electric bass pattern was for a Fender P and he wasn't into doing any custom work.  It looks like he's still making very nice bags so I hope that becomes a possible option for us.

I'm pretty sure Glen retired and the company that's making them now bought his templates. I spent a good deal of time with Glen around the same time Jimmy, but in the end he wasn't interested in making our Classico cases or custom gig bags. The new folks in Minnesota are into making the custom stuff. Here's what they have on their website:

I must have gotten one of the last custom cases, then. He was quite a character! I kept hoping that they kept my template on my file.

It's so great to hear that you have been in touch with the successors. They definitely seem like they have the right priorities.

That's great news!  We need some hand made gig bag options for our lovely hand made instruments. 
And now in my old hometown, how about that?
