Reissue Black Blaster
« on: September 07, 2021, 07:31:09 PM »
I'm so excited to share this news! I've been planning this for a while, and it hasn't been easy to find a great supplier willing to do my little job. Most companies wanted to sub it out overseas and that's just not for me.
But for all you Alligator guitar and Lowell George fans, I have a 100 piece run of Blaster reissue plates being made. These are a premium upgrade, $55 extra, but if you put a note here or email me that you want to reserve one, I'll knock $10 off the price (membership has it's benefits!). The plates will be just like the originals - brushed aluminum black anodized after machining. The name "ALEMBIC" is etched and filled in gold. The only difference is these will have an engraved serial number on the back designating them as one of the first group of the reissued Blasters. I'm not sure if I'll continue to add the serial numbers on future runs, but these are special.

Mica, did these precede the rectangular black plastic Strat-O-Blasters, or were the rectangular plastic ones first?

Sadly, I'm still working on this. The company making the plates didn't come through for me :( but I have another one auditioning so don't lose hope! I'll post updates on the Club when they are once again available.

Just this week I saw two Black Blasters in use...in YouTube vids from the 1970's :)

I had the opportunity to jam with Will McFarlane a couple of times. He lived in the same neighborhood as a songwriter/singer I worked with. The neighborhood would hold block parties where the musicians that lived in the neighborhood would play a few tunes with their groups then hold an open jam. He is one of the more down to earth guys I've met and a nice person not to mention great guitar player.

My favorite of all of Bonnie's bands! I saw them ca. 1978-79. Will was fantastic.

Wasn't that with Freebo on bass?  Saw her in the 70s too.  Great shows!

Saw Freebo with Bonnie a number of times in the 70s, her late 70s band with Will was great. Some friends opened for her and Robert Hunter at an afternoon college show in Albany in May of 78 so my girlfriend and I drove up for the show then went to see the Dead at RPI that night. We had backstage passes for Bonnie and RH and beside both bands playing an excellent show we got to watch Bonnie and Will playing "air guitar" backstage to some Little Feat that was on the PA. I got a chance to speak with Will in the late 90s on a gig at Maritime Hall in San Francisco when he was touring with Donna Jean Godchaux, he was quite a nice guy and an excellent guitar player.
