Just a thought I had reading another thread today.

Is it worthwhile, or even advisable to add another subsection here other than 'Miscellaneous' for Obituaries?

They are an important way to remember and share for some, but they can have a negative effect too if they come in rapid succession. (as they have been latey) The point I guess; it would be easier to avoid if you just didn't feel like you wanted sad news this morning. I enjoy these threads, and often learn something about an artist I didn't know. I can see how it might be an emotional overload too. What's it been, like five this week?

Maybe it's a common section for Celebrations, Birthdays, Remembrances, I don't know... just pitchin' an idea. It may be one of those things that only seemed like a good idea in my head.

There are specific (and important] “Remembering” posts in the Community section.  To your point I agree, if possible, having a ‘generic’ In Memoriam area would be nice.

That would provide an isolated area where we can honor and share memories of our influences and inspirations who seem to all be approaching the same finish line often times in rapid succession (Tower of Power lost two original members within a week of each other!).   It can be heavy to be bombarded with a loss, any loss.  These are tender times we live in, and i certainly have days when I acknowledge that “I feel fragile” and avoiding grief of any type is a coping mechanism for me.

On the flip side some of the announcements I meet with joy, case in point, the recent remembrance of when I first heard Iron Butterfly.

Greg, I was thinking the same thing today.  It’s been a bit overwhelming the past couple of years.

While I see the idea of another category' I would miss a lot if  it was segregated out...but all these heroes dying...I dunno...Tony

Well, at least now they're dying of things like cancer & Alzheimer's, instead of ODs & motorcycle crashes (as sad as our recent losses are, remember - by the time Duane Allman was my age, he'd been dead 41 years......).
