Dead & Co return to Woodstock for a re-do
« on: August 26, 2021, 09:42:14 AM »
From Boingboing.net:

"On Monday, Dead & Company performed in Bethel Woods, New York at the site of the original 1969 Woodstock music festival. Their performance 52 years ago was infamously plagued by a confluence of problems that Bobby Weir once said was "was probably the worst set we've ever performed." Of course Weir was exaggerating, but it wasn't a high point in the band's storied career either. So Monday, Dead & Company had a re-do of the same song sequence and the results were wonderful."

That's pretty cool. I'll listen on my sanity stroll this evening.  :)

Phil Lesh performed the "Woodstock set" back in 2006 when his band played Bethel Woods. In the interest of historical accuracy neither Phil Lesh and Friends or DeadCo played at Woodstock. I haven't listened to either band's recreations yet but here is a link to the Phil and Friends show on the Live Music Archive. You can listen online or download the soundboard recording.

Thanks to David for the DeadCo video link!
