Can anyone confirm what the actual specifications for output voltage and impedance of the front-panel 3-pin XLR connector on an F-1X are? The product page on the Alembic website provides a lot of excellent detail, but no specs.
I had a frustrating experience at a gig last night, first time I've ever encountered this issue so I'm chalking it up to the engineer's inexperience rather than a problem with my F-1X ...I hope. Better safe than sorry, so I want to check to make sure my unit is up to spec.
Engineer insisted that the level coming out of my XLR was extremely low
regardless of what position I had the Pre/Post switch in. For my own recording projects I've always used it in the Post position and been able to drive typical pro studio line-level electronics such as compressors (dbx 165a, Aphex 300 Compellor, AudioArts 1200) or A/D convertors (Lucid AD9624) with no issues or artifacts. Last night it was connected to one of the XLR inputs on a UAD Apollo x8 -- which according to the owner's manual can be set to either Mic or Line Level. Mr. Engineer last night insisted he needed to have it set to Mic Level and with the gain cranked up atypically high. That just doesn't seem right based on every other interface experience I've had with the F-1X.
Anyhow, if someone can confirm what the factory specs for level and impedance are supposed to be, I want to double check that my unit is performing correctly before I develop any further opinions on Mr. Engineer.
