(x) 91H6521 Alembic Elan
« on: June 04, 2021, 01:56:41 AM »
Hi Mica,

A guy is proposing me this Alembic Elan, but informations about the Elan series seem to be hidden somewhere and hard to find.

May I get some information about this #91H6521 Alembic Elan ?

Thanks a lot and have a great day,

Tony.

gtrguy,
Picture is the serial number in the electronics cavity...

Hellzero,
Welcome to the club, sometimes the serial number lookups take time, suggest you post a few pictures of the bass here for members to comment on.

I like that blue!

It appears to be an all maple Elan. A maple body, wqlnut(?) laminate, and a nice quilted maple top. Neck appears to be maple w walnut laminates. It was standard for Elans to come with these body woods, or at least a lot of them were made that way.  I've never played an all Maple bodied one, but pretty much everyone who has reports that they have some serious bite to them and cut through very well.

It appears as though it has Elan plus Electronics(Vol, Filter, Pan, Q switch).  I'm not a wiring harness/electronics expert, but that control cavity looks pretty Factory to my eyes.

It looks as though it's been taken care of. The pickup screws are even installed correctly, which is an indication that it hasn't been messed with too much by someone who didn't know what they had in their hands.

Thanks @tbrannon

Yes, it's fully original to my eyes too, but I'm waiting for @mica to confirm this.

If this is a time-sensitive purchase, I'd recommend just giving alembic a call during their normal business hours Monday through Friday. Mica does these lookups when she has time and she does them in bunches.  if you call, you'll be able to catch Mary, Mica or someone who can assist. 👍🏻

I think that is the standard Elan electronics package. The Plus would have two more switches.
