I see a classic Alembic bass, and a quite unusual one at that, being sold on behalf of the widow of the original owner, who played the ever-lovin' stuffins out of it. (check out the wear on those original pickups) Pricing it? I don't know or care, but at some point "Go Find Another One" comes into play. Or order a new one... they'll be glad to build you one just like it.   

And I see us looking for silly/snarky ways of making fun of it, here, where it belongs, and should be appreciated. This isn't cool guys. This isn't what this Club used to be about.

To move us to a different, more positive discussion...I LOVE Koa. But I'm not able to explain why it looks so different on different basses. This bass is beautiful but looks nothing like my Series I SC and the difference doesn't appear to be due to the same factors that differentiate Birdseye from quilted from burl maple for example. Someone who knows more about wood out there care to explain?

Greg, agree, and it’s a magnificent bass!

Brian, maybe it has to do with the cut: flat sawn, quarter sawn, etc, which exposes and emphasizes the grain differently.  Just a guess.

Not sure if Jane or anyone who knows her is in this thread but the fretboard crack is a bit of a concern. Would help to see a pic of that.
