My quest for Fuzz has ended, thanks Harry.

I was always very picky about fuzzes and passed years looking for the one who could give me the right amount of gate vs sustain working along active electronics.

I fell in love with the ZVex Whooly Mammoth, but those germanium fuzzes really doesn't work fine with low impedance input, and then I saw a video that our pal Harry sent using the ZVex Mastotron, a silicon based Fuzz with a kind of impedance matching control.

So, thanks Harry (Hieronymous) for the tip, it is not easy to find good gear here in Brazil and they tend to get very expensive, so it is not that easy test-before-buy and I've already spent some money on wrong purchases over the years. So I was planning to tame the GAS but found a second hand Mastotron "passing by" and took it home. So glad that I did, it is so versatile and I can finally get the pedals dialed in to the tones out of my head.

Fuzzes can get wild sometimes when self oscilate or when the infinite sustain blurs fast phrasings. Fuzzes also can be very demanding on what comes before it, but this Mastotron solve all this issues. The only "problem" is the small case the puts the switch too close to the knobs in my crowded pedalboard.

Awesome! Glad you found one second-hand. There are a lot of sounds in there.

My favorite fuzz is the long discontinued Digitech PDS-1550. I was bummed when the foot switches (which were quite delicate) gave up the ghost. It had two levels with a parametric EQ that could be assigned to one or both of the channels. It didn't suck the low end at all. I used the heck out of it from 1989 until it broke about 8 years later. You probably heard it in action, Harry.

I like the Ross distortion peddle from the 70s, can get some pretty fat fuzz out of that!
