Featured Custom Of The Month January 2001:  http://www.alembic.com/info/FC_spen.html

All the important specs are on the FCOTM page.  But, in a nutshell, it is 5 strings, 34" long scale.  It is the first ever custom bass Alembic made based on the "balance point" body shape, and the bottom is carved smooth instead of a point or omega.  It has flame maple top and back with continuous wood backplates and truss rod cover, side LED's in red with internal dimmer, bookmatched peghead, 24k gold plated hardware, high gloss finish.  It also has a super cool feature, a boost switch with indicator light.  Original G&G hard case.

I just took possession of this bass a week or two ago.  It is absolutely perfect and 99% near mint.  It sounds absolutely incredible.  HOWEVER, this bass is not for the faint of heart.  It is quite large.  It is about 48" long and 16" wide at it's widest.  It weighs about 14 lbs.  The nut width is about 1 7/8" and about  2 3/8" at the 24th fret.  As for string spacing, I'm not great at measuring, but the pics speak for themselves.

I'd say the bass is dead mint, but looking at it very closely, and from an angle, there are one or two tine (I mean tine) dimples on the top that are virtually undetectable (they don't break through the finish).

I'm not in a hurry to let this go, so I'll keep it until I find the right trade.  Looking for a "modern" Alembic 5-string (would consider 6 strings).  The bass and I are on Long Island.

Thanks!

That is a truly remarkable bass! It is very special and sounds huge and thunderous while still articulate and precise. Though it is on the heavy side, the rewards of the dense woods out-weigh the extra heft. The sound of the bass is simultaneously focused and engulfing.
