Hey guys, I am considering selling this guitar. (not an April fools joke this time)

I bought it in 2009 and a few years later I found I was playing more bass gigs and the guitar gigs I played I tended to use my Orion guitar or my strat.

So it has seen little action live and not enough use at home to become instinctive with the guitar controls.
It is no doubt an incredible guitar sound wise and playability but I think I have given in to fighting with it,

I really think from a guitar perspective I find a single master volume and switching pickups to change basic tones, and controls that allow me to refine that more instinctive. I find the layout of a series guitar to be much less intuitive than bass and I am getting frustrated trying to re-learn that layout.
I think it would be better in the hands of a guitarist who can really make this guitar sing and I am considering selling this to raise funds to put towards a custom Spectrum guitar that I have spoken about many times on the forum.

There are few things to consider if you are interested in the guitar.
1) I am highly reluctant to ship the guitar to anyone and would prefer a buyer who can collect in person.

2) if shipping is the only option for you then the buyer assumes all responsibility for that and will also have to cover that cost plus any costs that may be required for CITES paperwork, insurance etc and the take the hit if it is held  at customs for CITES either here or any other country on route. Mica did mention to me a few years back that it is likely to require paperwork to ship it out of the country if I decide to sell. So please bear that in mind.
It comes with the original case, DS-5R power supply and 5pin cable.

Other than that here is more information from when it was originally built. As many know it is quite a rare beast.
I’m not desperate to sell it and have no idea of what it is worth so if you are interested please make me a sensible offer. Low balls will be knocked for six and are unlikely to be responded to.

If you look at the base price of a series I guitar then consider the options it has such as the elaborate dragon inlay, side LED’s bookmatch to centre, highly figured cocobolo and inlaid logo then you will realise it ain’t gonna be a cheap guitar new or used.
I look forward to your interest.

There are a few guitarists who have previously expressed interest so they will of course get priority if there are a number of offers in the same ball park.

Hmmm. But for a few remaining family ties, I could be the first in 15 generations to repatriate back to merry-old Huncote, and collect in person...

Looking forward to your Custom Spectrum guitar, Jazzy. Wanna race?  ;)

Buy Dragon Magic?  Been there, done that.*

hehehehe

Good luck with the sale Jazzy ... or you could add a master volume and convert it to a Series 1.5.

Bill, tgo

* over 10 years ago and, IIRC, shortly before Jazzy bought D.M., I won what turned out to be a bogus eBay auction for the guitar.   Thankfully, Mica quickly emailed me that it was a fraud before I sent any money.

That is a good idea Bill and something i had not considered.
I think i will give mica a call in the week and get some advice. I do have some dual gang alembic pots so it may be something that can be done easily or maybe she could supply a plug in mod.

In all seriousness, that may be a modification Mr. Price could do for you, I can't imagine it would do any harm to the value of the instrument if done correctly. You could then decide whether Dragon Magic would work better for you, or to move it on. It's such a beautiful guitar, replacing it will be tough.

fwiw, as a guitarist and a bassist (and one who has lusted after a Series I bass for decades but never even considered a Series guitar) this makes total sense to me.

So much of the both iconic and idiomatic gestures that we make on guitar are inextricably linked to the electronics of far more (for lack of a better word) pedestrian instruments..while one can rationalize how Series electronics yield a wider palette of sounds than (say) a bog-stock Telecaster, there's very little that's "guitaristic" about rotary pickup selectors or low-pass filters.

Good luck with the sale. That thing is feckin' beautiful!

Hey jazzyvee, first off good luck with the sale.

I do have a few questions, you can respond to kazar32@yahoo.com

Beautiful guitar, I almost bought this guitar from guitar Rez in Austin Texas. Anyway, I am thinking about sending my 1980 3/4 omega body graphite neck series II guitar to the mothership for a refinish. The guitar is in almost mint condition but i prefer the high gloss finish. I believe it is the only series II guitar with a graphite neck and it is the first 3/4 body. This info would need to be verified by Mica.

Long story short before I send this guitar to get refinished I was wondering what is a reasonably price for your guitar, also I was wondering if you are up for a trade.

I like you am not sure I want to part with my instrument but I am open to discussion.

Let me know your thoughts,
Mark
