Hi friends,
I've just acquired an 81 S1 8-string and in attempting to get the bridge height equal on both sides, I discovered that the reason the G string side is able to go lower is that there's a larger hole in the brass block underneath the bridge on the G string side than there is on the E string side. Is this commonly done on Series basses or is it more likely that the previous owner had one side drilled wider in order to allow the nut on the underside of the bridge to go inside the brass block to facilitate a lower bridge setting?
Any insight is appreciated.
The bass is awesome, btw!
