Just a little adoration and NBD.
« on: January 28, 2021, 07:29:41 AM »
I’ve been a member here since I believe 2003. I’ve held ALOT of Basses in my hands, I mean ALOT, but this company, the products, the people the whole community vibe is simply unmatched anywhere.  An Alembic is always something to behold, to stop for a bit and look at... it is more than simply the sum of its parts, which as we know is quite profound, as well the emotional element to holding one is also quite profound, no matter how many times I’ve been blessed to have one that thrill is always there. They have been consistent, in my view of maintaining such a high standard that it’s puts a lot of others to shame. Anyway this is my new/old bass that I am thrilled to have.

Being the current caretaker of two Distillates, and a Distillate 5 being my first Alembic experience many years ago, they hold a special place for me. Congratulations and Compliments.  ;D

Tom,
I agree with you assessment “...maintaining such a high standard...” is the result of the Craftsmen and Craftswomen at Alembic.  Their attention to detail is recognized and appreciated.

Meanwhile last night I finished my first track for our ‘30 years later remake’ with my Distillate.  I actually started laughing when I listened to the playback.  These basses (and probably guitars) really are “all that”!

Listening to “Sweet Life” is that the Distillate? Sitting quite well and popping through perfectly when needed.
I am Gonna be using this on tracks soon. Thinking about what to use it with or not, I have quite a few preamps and DI’s.... though lately I’ve been running straight. Can’t seem to shake that I prefer my tone completely uncolored by any preamp other than the bass and I suppose the board pre.
Anyway... thanks.

Thanks Tom.
Yes Sweet Life is played on my Distillate.  The song I just tracked a Sansamp was used with the Distillate, i was super hesitant to ‘color’ my Alembic’s tone.... truth is the Sansamp took a great sound and added some presence to it, resulting (at least to me) in an even greaterer sound.   :o

I am going to put it in DropBox and notify the Producer that it is there... will see what his opinion is of the tone.  ???
