[SOLD] 1990 Elan 4 birdseye maple

Up for sale is my beautiful Alembic Elan 4. The bass was build in 1990 and exported originally to Ialy. The condition is very good. As I take it in my hands, I can't believe it is from 1990. This bass has always been loved and taken care for. I think there are not so many Alembic basses, which are made completely from maple. Neck through, birdseye maple top-veneers, original old Schaller machine heads, maple body, three piece maple neck, original old hardware (I love the old knobs). The electronic is the same as the Essence has, there is volume, blend, filter and q-switch. All in perfect working condition.Ebony fretboard with oval inlays (no wear at all!). The frets show minor signs of fretwear, but for this age the frets are still in perfect condition. But the most impressive thing is the sound. If you think of a hard sounding maple, you are completely wrong. This is one of the warmest sounding Alembics I have ever played. I decided to let this baby go, because I am playing 5-string Alembic basses only for many years. I will ship this bass worldwide (DHL, fully insured only!) with a stylish 90's venyl-hardcase. my all maple elan* had the most outrageous tone of any bass that i've owned in many years, probably only rivaled by my series II long gone.  :'(

If the weight and body size hadn't been forcing me down the road to shoulder surgery, it would still be in my possession.  so i guess that's the trade-off.

so if ya got the moxie to strap one of these dreadnoughts on, you definitely won't be disappointed in the tone department.  IMHO, of course.

I am with you on that one, having been the owner of a double P-style Elan for a few years they are indeed an outrageous sounding bass and extremely versatile from clean and crisp to warm and cosy.
