Guitar Stands

Mine looks like this.  Very stable and secure, the only thing that causes me concern is that the rivet that holds the moving arm doesn't inspire confidence that it won't one day fail.  Perhaps I should replace the rivet with a bolt.

I just got a delivery of a K&M stand. The thing seems like you couldn’t move it with a tank. Unfortunately because of the asymmetrical shape of my epic I couldn’t get it to hold my bass properly. I don’t want a stand where the bass hangs from the neck like I’ve seen. Now I’m gonna look at some Hercules stands. Any suggestions?

If it were me...I'd just get a block of foam, cut it to match that support (top photo, left...) and just level up the bass with it.  (Then you could cover the whole bottom of the stand with a black t-shirt, or something like that, to protect the bass finish.) YMMV!

I have a couple of those k&m stands. they're great for acoustics but there's no way I'd want to put my Alembics on one. There's nothing to stop the bass sliding sideways. The second of JazzyVee's hercules pictures is the ideal stand for me. Very secure and I can swap basses between songs very quickly.

I stopped using my K&M stands because of the same issue you encountered, they don't work with all my instruments, and any instrument you put in one has to be watched to make it sure it doesn't shift left or right and fall. Much happier with the type of Hercules stand that everyone has been recommending. Curious as to why are you averse to using a hanging design?

Indeed. even at the workshop they hang instruments as you can see from this pic from 2012...

This is my favorite guitar stand. However, it doesn't work with basses with wide necks at the nut. Or headless basses.

But it is practically impossible to knock over. Their customer service is great, too.

It's the second type of stand that jazzyvee posted, so the stand leans backward, as does the instrument. The two front legs are covered with foam, and the bottom of the instrument rests against the foam.

I don’t usually use a stand, I keep the bass in the case or my hands.

Used an A-frame for many years but now Hercules does the job. (See pics of my Alembic and also 34year old Jaydee which I am having serviced next year as not used it for ages)
