Nice pro shot pic of Jerry playing the "Peanut" Guitar

Did a quick search here and didn't find a reference to this shot, my apologies if this is redundant.

The Manhattan Center shows are where some of the material on the Skull and Roses LP was recorded so if you haven't heard the guitar that is a good way to check out what it sounded like. Friends of mine were at these shows and said it was a wild scene. I was living in Europe at the time and never got to see him play this guitar live but have listened to the album countless times.

This particular guitar was made by Rick Turner - it's got a Gibson neck on it.

So, I guess this is the one that is technically not a peanut guitar but a precursor to that concept and design?

I've read a thing where Rick said it was the first one he ever built; the neck was off a trashed Les Paul Custom, IIRC.  Body was based on an old Stauffer-style Martin; he cut it out of a piece of mahogany & veneered it with walnut.
I didn't realize it was on Skullf**k; thanks for that info.

Rambles and turns, but here's the story on the Gibson-necked Peanut, as played by Garcia, as told by RT.

It does make you wonder, where is it today? Hard to say.

This is the original Peanut. Rick keeps threatening to release a reissue.
