A great photographer who took some of the most iconic photos of the San Francisco rock scene in the 60’s-early 70’s, Baron Wolman has passed at 83.

Despite his short career spent shooting the music scene before moving on to other photographic challenges he managed to be in the right place at the right time to get some fantastic iconic shots of musicians and the late 60s scene. Rolling Stone ran a nice overview of his career. I don't have the issue of Rolling Stone with Sun Ra on the cover but still have my copy of the one with Pete Townshend, always been a favorite image of Pete.

Here are a couple more Wolman shots, Sun Ra in Berkeley 1968. One of these is the source image for the Rolling Stone cover.

The folded ROLLING STONE with Ralph J Gleason and a young and hungry Jann Wenner seems like a lifetime ago.
