I just wanted to say that this month's featured custom has got to be one of the prettiest works of Alembic art that I have seen in a while.  While all Alembic Basses are stunning (and the Featured Customs even more so), this one is spectacular.

I must admit that the inlaid fret lines only on the side of the neck is an ingenious solution !
 
I'm not fearless enough for a 'bald' fretless, but with this feature, I could try it. Bravo !

I was originally referring to this month's feature.  They used mandolin frets.  They're very thin and can almost sound like fretless with the right touch.

This is the only featured custom that I've seen with fretlines on the side of the fingerboard.
