70's Schaller M4 tension

I just read online that the 70's Schaller M4 tuners, used by Alembic, feature adjustable tension. Is that correct? The person states that the screw holding the paddle ear to the tuner shaft is the tension adjuster. In my experience if I don't keep that screw tight it tends to work loose and possibly fall out along with the paddle. If the older M4 truly is tension adjustable, maybe a dab of lock-tite to keep the screw in?

Interesting to read! The Schallers on my 70s basses tend to be stiff under string tension, not fluid when turning.  I attributed that to age and wear, but maybe they just need a little adjustment with the small screw that you mentioned.  I will take a look.

Interesting Alembic Series 1 review that remarks about adjustable tension on the M4 tuner. https://www.muzines.co.uk/articles/alembic/8678  I tried loosening the paddle screw a half a turn or so, and it seems to help some.
