I just read online that the 70's Schaller M4 tuners, used by Alembic, feature adjustable tension. Is that correct? The person states that the screw holding the paddle ear to the tuner shaft is the tension adjuster. In my experience if I don't keep that screw tight it tends to work loose and possibly fall out along with the paddle. If the older M4 truly is tension adjustable, maybe a dab of lock-tite to keep the screw in?

And here Quote--Reviewing a mid 70's Alembic the machine heads are Schallers' which have the smoothest and most accurate action I have found. They are adjustable for tension, but I have found this unnecessary.
