Stonetrout “Gig” on Saturday
« on: July 29, 2020, 05:41:52 PM »
After four months of not playing with anyone, (other than during a brief stopover at the Cozmik Cowboy Ranch on my recent cross-country drive), I’ll be jamming with my band Stonetrout this Saturday afternoon on my outdoor stage (front porch) for no one but us.   I believe this is the longest I’ve gone without playing with a band in over a quarter century!   I can’t wait!

I'm guessing that there are no tickets available.

Moder Dave never needs a ticket to hang out here!

It’s going to be interesting - I never know how the extended hiatus will manifest itself.   When we’ve taken time off before, usually during each summer with overlapping vacations, we’ve sometimes come back rusty as hell.  Other times it has been spooky good.  Either way it will be big fun!

If it's anything like our return was Bill, the rust gives way to chemistry a few tunes in... fear not the occasional foul note - play on!  ;)

(like our frontman Josh says; "what's a fret or two, amongst friends?")   ;D

I have no idea how to do a live stream and, considering we haven’t played in almost five months and we have a new drummer that only played with us twice before everything shut down,  I’m not sure I want to inflict us live on an unsuspecting world!   If I have the time to set it up, I am thinking about recording video and audio and posting some right here.

WOW that was FUN!!!!    We had great weather, a beautiful day for this, not too hot and a light, refreshing, breeze.    Weather permitting, we’re going to try and do this again next Saturday.    It sure feels good to play music with a group again!   I set up a camera and let it run.  I haven’t checked it out yet, but if anything came out halfway decent, and I can figure out the technology, I’ll put a tune or two up on this thread.

We’re doing it again tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon.   I AV recorded the last one, but the bass was too close to the camera and/or the camera mic picked up vibrations coming through the cement porch.  Either way, the bass was way loud and distorted.   Tomorrow, I’m going to reposition the camera and put the bass amp on a Gamma isolator.   If it works, I’ll post something .... if it’s worth posting.

Another day of excellent weather to do an outdoor jam.  Still working on placement for the camera/recorder.  Here's one that came out fairly decent.  And this is my non-Dead band.

Thanks, Coz!  Weather permitting, we're going to do it again this Saturday.  I'll be trying a different placement for the camera.  The first time it was too close to the bass amp, then last Saturday (as apparent in the video) a little too close to the lead guitar amp.  I'll try for a better sonic balance this next time.
