Sorry if this is painfully obvious but I've been on a lot of forums over the past few decades but can't figure out how to use this one. I checked the FAQs and saw nothing so I checked the Help (which redirects to the standard Simple Machines help) but the instructions there reference things that I can't find on this board.

I'm looking for a particular Alembic bass and found a post on this board of someone selling one so I created an account so I could message them about purchasing it but I cannot figure out how to send them a PM. I also do not appear to have a message inbox. I thought maybe I could do a "create new message" kind of thing from there and specify the recipient as some forums let you do that.

Someone please clue me in. Hahaha Thanks in advance.

Hello and Welcome.  :)

Click on the envelope icon beneath the Member's profile, and you'll be prompted to an email formatted to them at the address they have selected for use here.

Thanks so much for the replies! This was actually the first place I looked. And I see that option on the profile pages for both of you who were kind enough to reply. It's not there for the user I'm trying to PM though.

Guess I should reply to the for sale thread.

Thanks again!

Ah, well the person has a choice in their profile to allow email contact or not.  That person may have chosen not to.  Probably best to reply to the thread expressing interest and ask how to contact them or ask them to email you.  Hope it works out!

I raised 3 sons, was a Boy Scout leader for many years, spent a couple semesters teaching community college, and & years as a K-12 substitute teacher - and I can assure you that, yes, there are indeed dumb questions (or, at least, dumb questioners).  But I have not, of course, encountered them here!

Welcome to the board, mechanyx, and good luck in your hunt.

No dumb questions?  How about “shouldn’t we look into drinking disinfectant”?
