Alembic dealers / service centres in the UK
« on: April 13, 2020, 08:20:05 AM »
Hi,

One very simple question for Mica (or anyone else) ....

My Series 1 bass unfortunately still refuses to work - see my very extended topic and discussion last year, primarily with Jimmy Johnson.

But ...... I intend to relocate part time back to the UK, when the COVID-19 pandemic is over and I'm allowed to travel from Bulgaria !!

So, please could someone provide me with a list of recommended Alembic dealers / luthiers / service centres in the UK who would be able to assist me ?

Many thanks
Dazza

There used to be an alembic dealer in Tonbridge, UK but they are not niw listed as alembic distributors on this alembic web site. That said, they may still be able to help you find someone to check your bass out.

We have a member on the forum from tht UK who's father is an electronics expert and he solved an issue with my series I bass and it has worked fine ever since. I won't mention him by name in case he no longer does this sort of thing but if he reads this post he may respond.

There are some very good luthiers here in the UK and many(especially builders) that should be able to help with electronics.  I’d recommend the Bass Gallery in London or Jack’s instrument services in Manchester. Both have undertaken electronics work for me with excellent results.  That said, a good audio electronics engineer should be able to help (and we have many of those around the UK. As Jazzyvee suggests, we don’t seem to have a major Alembic dealer, though Bass Direct near Leamington appear to have some kind of relationship

Bass Direct have had used alembics in stock and as far as I know had one new one in because it was ordered by a former employee and the order taken over by the shop.
A good person to contact would be John East of East Electronics (https://www.east-uk.com) as he makes filter based electronics for ACG basses. Also Wal may be worth considering if they do servicing as they have filter based electronics in their basses.
