^THIS^ is how I know we are going to be okay.  :)

Thanks for posting Paul. I have forwarded to 3 ICU nurses I happen to know, and one extremely industrious, coincidentally incredibly bored educator with seamstress skills.

We found a few N95 masks we had left over from the fires last fall.  I’ll be packing them up this afternoon and mailing them to my niece who is a physician in Manhattan.   Right now they are only giving her one mask per week!

Thanks Paul, good info!

We also have leftover masks from the fires a couple of years ago which we wear for our once a week shopping trip. They are pretty worn out but better than nothing. Hard to believe there is still so little support for the hospital personnel and folks on the "front lines". We are supposedly the richest country in the world but somehow can't afford basic medical necessities during a crises. Stay safe everyone and help others if, and when, you can...

Mind boggling isn't it! I can't believe what's going on with the lack of basic support for our care workers and first responders.

Holding my tongue (which gets more difficult each day).   I know the rules here prohibit most political commentary.

It’s not a big deal, it’s just like the flu.
It will go away in a few days when it gets warmer.
It’s a liberal hoax.
We’ll all be in church on Easter Sunday.

Is merely quoting #45 unacceptable content?   Censor me, if you must.

I'm a really smart guy, and I know more about posting rules than anybody, believe me, and it's beautiful how acceptable that is, bigly!

Expecting the collective leadership of this country to do “the right thing” is foolish.  If there isn’t a profit in it then they really don’t care.

Which is why embracing individual creativity that directly responds to this crisis is such a beautiful thing.
I am proud of Sandy and Noel (cameo appearance) for going above and beyond to help out.

Her Midwest dialect would have been nicely augmented with a custom sound track... just sayin’  ;)

In the original spirit of Paul's thread, I thought some of you might enjoy this one...

So one of the guys in our Maintenance Dept. the Electrician Superintendent (very recently appointed to that position) actually came up with this homemade device to disinfect an entire room using Ultraviolet light. It's a pretty simple thing... four tubes, some circuitry, and a timer. Some documented experimentation determined 25 minutes of exposure to the UV rays killed or inactivated viruses and bacterial media. So they got to work and built a couple of these contraptions to be used in the event of an outbreak our offices and facilities needed to be sterilized quickly. You just plug it in, put the protective glasses on, set the timer, and leave the room until it's done. So far, we've been spared the worst of this pandemic here in Southwest Virginia. We hope never to need these things, but iffn' we do, they're ready to go.

Gregory, there's actually commercial versions of that UV Blaster that's sold for healthcare facilities.  I wish someone made a home version, strong UV will kill lots and lots of scary stuff, but as you note, ya GOT to get out of line-of-sight while it's doing it's thing.  Would be so very helpful as over-the-counter wet disinfectants are in short supply and/or hard on unintended targets.

I'll respect our policy to steer clear of politics, etc., God Knows there's enough everywhere else, but . . . . Bill, I've given up watching the news a lot of days; it's too depressing and I feel completely lost in a world I no longer understand.  I hope that's personal and not political.

I read a thing yesterday or day before (sorry, the source has slipped through the ever-increasing space between brain cells), in response to Her asking about the efficacy of UV for that purpose. It said UVA & UVB are useless against coronavirus 19 - and UVC is nothing you want to be anywhere near (sunburn in few seconds kind of harsh).

Veering from the vein of politics and staying in the personal lane as in personal mental health...
I avoid the news, tv talk shows and censor my social media content viewing as much as possible these days.   It has become Orwellian, nothing short of Newspeak.   Does it make me ignorant?  Maybe.  Does it make me a calmer person?  Absolutely!

Propaganda creates conflict and I don’t want to be angry anymore.  I honestly am going to see a doctor about anger control on Monday.  To quote the Avett Brothers, “...your life doesn’t change by the man that’s elected...”, I wish I could share that message with more people. Again, not politically but personal health slant, it seems we the people, have grown increasingly uglier in the last several years.  No bueno.
