Pray for John Prine (he has passed)

I just read that one of my all time favorite singer/songwriters, John Prine is on a respirator in critical condition with corvid-19.   This one hits home for me more than any other news I’ve heard during these hard times.   I’m not a traditional religious type, but I’m praying for John and all the other victims of this pandemic.

His wife posted a statement that his condition has improved since yesterday...  will take any good news offered. We were just out walking Samson and I was thinking that John's set at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass a couple of years ago is probably my all-time favorite performance over the many times I have gone to the festival. He played the Banjo Stage, which is the largest and most crowded spot at the festival, yet you could hear a pin drop while he was performing. A truly beautiful and intimate performance shared with thousands of people my personal highlight being his rendition of "Sam Stone".

John Prine is in stable condition after being placed on a ventilator while being treated for COVID-19-type symptoms, his wife, Fiona Whelan Prine said Monday.
The singer-songwriter's family said Sunday that Prine was critically ill. Fiona Prine's message Monday on social media, suggested his condition had improved overnight. Prine remains hospitalized.
“Please continue to send your amazing love and prayers,” she said on Twitter. “Sing his songs. Stay home and wash hands. John loves you. I love you.”

My mom and I sing Angel From Montgomery regularly. Thinking of John and his family and sending the love to them.

I have (well, had...) a regular repeating gig every September for a Biker's Rally in a John Prine tribute band called Souvenirs. It's been something to look forward to every year. I sure don't want it to become a memorial this way. Get Well John.

I need to clarify what I mean by “John is stable”. That is not the same as improving. There is no cure for Covid-19. He needs our prayers and love - as do the thousands of others who are critically ill. Stay at home. Wash your hands. We love you.

I have not yet seen John live, but we have friends in common (several of them, alas, now gone) - one of whom I was with when we spent some time at a table in a club with him; we didn't talk much (we were all too busy being amazed by Elizabeth Cotten), but he was quite personable to a 22-y-o kid who, owning a couple of albums & having "Paradise" in his repertoire, was a bit star-struck. 
I would still love to see you live, John; hang in there!

I saw that, too; I just logged on to post it.  He went yesterday(4/6/20).
For a song to be sung requires silence before and after; I'd just hoped his song would last a while longer.

This one really hits home.  I loved the guy.  It ‘s getting downright scary out there.
