Reunion Blues Long Scale Standard Point
« on: February 08, 2020, 06:08:13 AM »
A club member named Bill (I don't think it was Bill TGO) emailed me through the club asking about the fit for a long scale standard point Alembic in a Reunion Blues gig bag.  I tried to reply to the email (club@cmail2.alembic.com), but the email got bounced back stating invalid address.  So, I'll respond here.
I think I have an older model Reunion blues Continental Voyager case.  My long scale 76 standard point fits snugly in the case.  My bass is 48" long and 15" wide.  Attached are a couple of photos so you can see how it fits in the case.  I like the case, sturdy and well built.

Thanks rv_bass for replying here.  This was helpful.   Not sure why your reply got kicked back. My Alembic is 50” long so it sounds like the Reunion Blues bags won’t work out.  Haven’t had much luck finding anything that will fit so far so the search continues.

Thanks again!

I have another one that is 49 3/4" long and fits very tightly in the case.  The case closes and zips up, but it's pushing the limits for length. I rarely use it for this bass.

Goran has mentioned a gig bag/soft case, but i don't remember the name of it, maybe he'll chime in.

This thread shows a gruvgear gig bag that may work for longer basses:

Goran’s Bass is an omega cut and I’m not sure if it is medium or long scale, but there looks to be a lot of length room in that bag.

I'll give a little plug for GruvGear... they are an excellent company to deal with. No experience with the cases, but I bought two of their Solo straps recently.

Here's a pic of my 34" Series I Standard Point in the GruvGear GigBlade II. My Series I is 49 inches (124.46 cm) headstock-to-point.

It's my intention to modify one of the velcro foam pads to sit on either side of the point, perhaps cutting it in half (the pad, not the point [!]). But there's plenty of padding in the case itself, so it hasn't been a priority.

There is sufficient room in this gig-bag.

Yea GruvGear fits great, even now with my Alembic K-balance 5 string Omega heart shape.
The bass player’s function, along with the drums, is to be the engine that drives the car… everything else is merely colours.

That case looks nice! I wonder if my Scorpion would fit! It's 49" long, too, headstock to point.
