The article in the Featured Custom archive (http://www.alembic.com/info/sterling.html) mentions that there are 17 Silver Anniversary SII?s remaining out of the intended 25. Is that still the case, or shall I ask, are there any left at all?

Also, when you say that there are X number left, are those instruments already made or are they yet to be assembled? In the event that they are not assembled, could other specifications be added, i.e. 5 string, custom scale length, etc.

Hi Paul, There are 11 Sterling 25th Anniversary models left. You can order in 4- 5- or 6-string versions. The first fret postion on the fingerboard is left blank so a personalization can be added and incorporated into the main design.

These are assembled as they are ordered so that custom requirements can be met. 34 scale or shorter is recommended with the Stinger Omega body shape for best balance.

These were not affected by the price increase as all the materials were obtained well before the need to increase the prices.

Thanks for the reply. If you look toward a 5 string model (or 6 for that matter) would the enlarged center piece help to offset the balance of the longer scale length? I?m really big on 36? scales so I?m hoping that there is some resolve for this. If not that is there another way that the weight issue could be addressed?

Na, it's all about where the upper horn ends. A Balance Point body shape would nicely solve the problem of balancing in an extended 36 scale. There's at least one piece of the Burl Brazilian Rosewood that is large enough for that shape.

Great! Do you have any examples of other basses that used the same design elements? At least an image of what the elongated upper horn would look like? Again, I?m favoring the 5 string, I?m not sure if that makes a difference.

Also, when you say that the first fret position is open to additional design considerations; can you post some pictures of what others have done? I certainly have ideas for that but what are the exact dimensions we?re talking about?
