Anyone using forScore?
« on: January 24, 2020, 02:07:08 AM »
I downloaded the forScore app onto my ipad but cannot figure out how to get it to do what I want it do.

Basically i want to take a "book" of existing PDFs (like the J. Garcia songbook from deadstein, or the RealBook) and create setlists from individual songs from within those books, but forScore is only recognizing those books as single PDFs and will only allow me to bookmark pages within those books...

tips/advice?

Glancing through the user manual online, I don't see that you can add a bookmarked page to the setlist.

Some PDF editors will let you save (or print to PDF) bookmarked pages as a new PDF.  This could take some time, but I'm guessing it would solve your problem.  (However, it occurs to me that some PDF documents are protected, and might block attempts to save/print bookmarked pages.)

I use UnREAL Book for this purpose and it's very good. OnSong is also a favorite.

This looked interesting, but I could not get it to work with my older IPad 4. I did get IReal Pro to work last year, but it took some doing.
I have PDFs of real books that I would like to use, though. Someday...

You guys got me interested.  I just downloaded and played around a little with Unreal Book.  Very cool app!  Any suggestions on a good bluetooth foot-pedal to scroll with my iPad?

ForScore is great. I use it for my setlists.

Best practices:
1) Use one PDF per song. I actually split out larger PDF's to separate songs since ForScore just works better that way.
2) Use a direct cable connection (Like iTunes file sharing) to transfer songs.

You can also hook it up to DropBox, Google Drive, or OneDrive. Transferring that way is a bit slower.
You can also import screenshots or PNGs. Sometimes I just grab screencaps from online charts if I just need a quick memory jogger.
Annotations are very helpful too.
