OMG !!! Someone got a DEAL !! The frequency pot is easily replaceable. Obviously the seller has no experience with gear in general, because we all have a ton of power cords around the house, right ? At least I do. Along with a ton of cords and straps. And cases. And gig bags. And amps. And basses.

I was briefly tempted by this - figured it probably worked fine, would love to cannibalize it and have someone make an SF-1 pedal that could be used on the floor with a pedal controlling the frequency - but it might not work - what do you have to do to shear off a pot?!! And I don't need a project like that! And it should go to someone that hasn't had the opportunity to use one - I love mine!

Whenever I see a listing for an amp, preamp, or other piece of musical equipment that claims the seller hasn’t tested it, I always assume they really have tested it and it doesn’t work.

Ah good point Bill. I guess I'm too trusting ; A double edged virtue.

Youse guys just need to have a little faith.  I just fired it up with a 12V wall wart, and it works fine. That small scrape on the top edge above the input jack is the only mark on it.

Now if I only understood how it works ?  :o

Congrats! That's awesome! There should be a few threads here on suggestions where to start - here's one. I would start with just one side - make sure you are getting dry signal through the unit, then turn down the direct signal and turn up the left filter volume and mess around. If you set it to Low Pass, then it's kind of like the low pass filter on an Alembic instrument. Once you get that figured out, you can start messing around with combining that with the direct signal. So you could set one side to give you a low frequency bump, the other side as hi-pass for some sizzle.

Congrats David, you got quite a deal!   Do you have the manual?  Will you be using it with a guitar or bass?  In mono or stereo?  The SF-2 can do many things, it is really the Swiss Army Knife of sound!

No, sadly it didn't have the manual. I'll use it with a "retro" SC Signature that has brown bass electronics, in mono. I also have an older-style F-1X that I can tie it to.

If you make your email address visible via your user profile it just may be that the manual will magically appear in your inbox :)

Look below the other members avatars on this page and you will see a little letter icon which allows members to send you a personal email. When someone sends an email to you through the forum your address does not show, the email goes out through the forum server. If you chose to ignore the email the sender will not see your address until you respond to them.  Meanwhile have fun exploring your SF-2!

Hi David !!I KNEW it would work !!! I could tell by the post that the seller really had no idea about gear. Had he known any old computer cable would work, he would've tried it. I'm SO happy for you AND envious !!!

Funny, I got the exact same sense, but I’m not sure exactly what it was. ( I also have a ‘92 Europa, so may be there’s a mystical element ?)
