33 3/4" Strings on Medium Scale Series 1

Hi, I would like to ask if these kind of strings will fit on my 80's Series 1. DR markets these as Short Scale but they measure at 33 3/4". I would like to know if this is an appropriate length for my Series MSB. I currently use long scale strings on my bass and the E string winds up the thickest part of the string. I want to get the right medium scale strings for this bass.

The regular long scale Hi-Beams should do just fine on a 32", never had problems with those on my Spoiler. The full thickness of the E string does wrap around the tuner post a bit, but that's less of an issue because of the round core nature of the string.
Short scale strrings would be a bit of a gamble, I think. The 33 3/4" measurement might be the length from the ball end to where the E string starts to taper, and you have to consider the extra string length needed with the separate tailpiece, so the full thickness of the E string may not reach the nut.

Thanks for the replay adriaan! I want to see what would be the optimal length of string to use where the E string could be wound to pitch before the full thickness of the string but still have the full thickness part on the nut... if you know what I mean.

The picture shows you how the long scale Hi-Beam E string sits on my 32" scale Spoiler - I would just go with long scale strings, which are easier to find than medium or short scale, and preferably round core to avoid issues with the fattest part of the string wrapped around the tuner post.

I use the short scale Hi-Beam set on my short scale Series bass. The thickest part of the E-string winding terminates less than 1'' past the nut, and it's the same for the A & D strings too. They will likely be too short for a your medium scale.
