Well that definitely sounds like an Alembic! Cool FX too.
I'm a little late to this thread, but I wanted to give my 2 cents. I know some of you aren't into the SVT coloring, but for me, it's a "must have", and I've recently fallen in love with the Tech 21 VT Bass line of pedals, DIs, and amps. All analog, and it sounds and responds SO much like my '74 SVT, it's kind of mind blowing. For about 10 years, I've been using the Guitar Rig 4 SVT plug-in for home recording (demos, writing), but the VT Bass has displaced that now. I actually have two in my live rig. The stompbox version at the end of my pedal board signal chain to kick in some extra grind (Geddy Lee, early John Wetton), then on top of my amp I have the DI version. I send the unaffected parallel out to my Ampeg rig, and the affected DI to FOH. I've found that these days, unless you have your own sound man, it's getting harder and harder to get anyone to mic the amp and end up with a good tone coming out of the PA, so this helps a LOT!
