A rare recording session coming up in a couple of weeks.

I've been asked to play on a re-recording of a track for release as a single by a band I did a couple of gigs with recently. I also appeared on the video for their last single but wasn't playing on that track.
I'm playing 5 strings mostly these days but this track could comfortably be played on a 4 string so should I take a couple of 4 stringers only, or 4 and a 5 string bass.
I have a mixture of signature, series and Europa powerered basses 4 and 5 string to choose from but don't want to carry more than I sensibly need.
 Any experienced guidance would be welcome.

is it likely to require an open 'E'?  I find it so much easier to control E on my 'B' string - it tends to sound fuller on the thicker string too.

The short answer Jazzy, play the bass you are most comfortable playing. Lately I notice, you seem to gravitate towards the Series-equipped Europa 5's...

I always take my F-2b for recording, esp. if it's a DAW session. The tube warmth adds a lot.

Good point Jaco and I understand that completely tonally. There is no open E on the version they have given me to learn but there is some slap so they may want some low E slapped if they want me to version it up.  Good idea gtrguy, I don't have an F2-b but will take my F1-x just in case. Edward you are correct I do tend to use the series more now that I have gotten used to them and I will definitely take one for safety and during this week of practicing the piece try my 4 strings and see which offers me a different vibe. At the moment my Elan 4 seems to be a good contender. Thanks for all your suggestions
