Parliament Series Bass and Guitar killing!
« on: April 03, 2019, 05:05:34 PM »
One of my most prized moments was being opening act for Mr Clinton some years ago, here in Brazil. He is amazing, the band first song was Zappa's "I am the Slime" and blew my mind. In this 1978 video we can see Series Bass and Guitar in blazing action.

Not just a bass, this is an Alembic!

I'm sure there were two alembics at the gig I went to of theirs in my home town back in the late 80's at the time One Nation Under a Groove was hammering the airwaves.

What is the tube/cable thing coming off the pickup area on the guitar (check at 7:00 minute mark)?

That is some very serious jamming!  :-D

My guess is that there is a synth pickup behind the bridge pickup that you can't see because his hand is in the way.

The diaper looking thing being worn at the 7:21 mark is certainly strange stage apparel.... Cool track, though, intense jam.

You have to show a real commitment to get some gigs...

Garry Shider was diaper man for a very long time. Killer singer. And sweet guy (got to hang with him after soundcheck once). I saw him in P Funk, the P Funk Allstars and Bootsy's band. Usually it was just the diaper and that's it. Maybe a hat.

Looks like Bernie Worrell back there on the keys. (and if you don't know about him, google him. Debuted with the Seattle Symphony at age 12).

Eddie Hazel is wielding the Alembic guitar, not sure who it is with the Travis Bean.

Too many good people gone too soon on that stage.

And check out starting at 3:45 for some Bernie shenanigans. He totally gets Bootsy's attention after a bit. I love these guys.
