Bass Bootcamp 2019
« on: March 17, 2019, 01:01:09 AM »
Spending the weekend at Gerald Veasleys Bass Bootcamp.  Basically it’s a weekend of bass workshops and masterclasses taught by some amazing bassists.  This weekend I was able to attend workshops given by Adam Nitti, Tony Grey, Scott Ambush and the amazing Oscar Cartaya, and also attended a masterclass given by Marcus Miller.

It’s amazing to hear these guys play up close and realize just how much of a command of thei instruments they really have, and I was able to schedule private lesson with Oscar Cartaya as well who was able to point me in the right direction on getting a handle on the Latin stuff.

There’s also a bass Expo also where many manufacturers on the east coast have their products on display.  One of the more interesting items I saw was the Christopher double bass.

Really a pretty cool fretless with a pretty convincing double bass sound when amplified.

If you have the opportunity to go to this, you should.  There are also people here from all over, one guy even flew in from Israel!
