Spoiler questions
« on: July 01, 2003, 03:08:47 PM »
Hi. My first post. Great club.I love my Spoiler but have a couple of questions. Could I have a little history if possible please Mica? I'm in the UK and I'm curious as to how it came to be here. The serial number is 86S 4118 and it appears to be 34 scale. Also, the selector control goes OFF, BRIDGE, BOTH, then Front pick up, the reverse of what you would expect.Somebody been messing with my baby?

Sorry, in the excitement of my first post I forgot to add, I've recently bought a used SF2, rare over here.No manual, although Alembic have kindly offered to send one to me. In the meantime, any set up suggestions? I use a Marshall 300w tranny amp and two Aguilar GS112.Thanks,Rob

You can reverse the pickup leads (they are modular and just plug plug in) or rotate the knob. It will be a few days to get the history researched.

Greetings to the UK from Tennessee.

When I got my SPOILER, the selector made me nuts as it was 'backwards' like yours.  MICA advised you can reverse the pickup leads.  If you're new to this, let me tell you how:

ALEMBICs use modular, plug-in (solderless !) leads.  Take the backplate off the electronics cavity.  Look for two blue plug-in cables opposite the battery and pots.  CAREFULLY unplug and then replace them in the opposite sockets they came from.  Now the order on the rotary switch will be off/neck/both/bridge.

While you're in there you can also adjust the mix of both pickups in the BOTH position by carefully turning the white slotted pots in the little blue boxes.  These are output volumes for each pickup.  And of course, the two together form the blend of both pickups. The left is the neck output, the right the bridge output.

Would the changing of the pickup selector procedure documented above be the same for Series I electronics?

Thanks,
Bones
