I never understood for sale threads where people needed the money more than the instrument. Not that I'm rich by any stretch, but simply that money seems so transient, and a great instrument is forever.
So, for the last few months I have been conflicted, I have been vacillating between keeping my Europa, and putting the cash to good use. I have been searching the internets for a while, and haven't been able to find any used Europas for sale, so my main tool for determining value is absent. Before I take a bunch of fresh pictures, what say you?
1992 Europa, right handed, 5 string
7 piece laminate maple/purpleheart/maple neck
Mahogany body with Redwood burl top
Europa electronics, Vol, Pan, LPF with two position Q toggle, Bass and Treble boost/cut toggles
Fully functional electronics and hardware, cosmetically, maybe 7 out of 10.
Brass needs polishing, checking in the finish on the back, where the belly sweat hit the bass, and a minor ding in the headstock. Weight is 10 - 10.5 lbs. I have the original case, but the latches have been replaced.
My first inclination is to ask $3500 to ship and insure within the continental USA. I live in Los Angeles, so a local pickup would be welcomed.
