Alembic underwater
« on: January 26, 2019, 06:18:52 PM »
Hello all,

It has been many years since I posted something here at the forum, guess the last was "Alembic on the top of the world", when an Alembic became the worlds most northernmost bass guitar being played on a ship not too far from the North Pole.

Now I thought you may want to see how an Alembic bass is being played inside a submersible. As it happens, I am Captain on a small expedition cruise ship and also a submersible pilot. Maybe this is the first time anyone ever played a bass guitar underwater. The submersible can go 1000ft deep although I didn't go that far for these shots!

Ok, some may now say that the Japanese license-made Alembic is not a "real" Alembic, but this is my "travel-bass" which I take with me to sea. Besides it does have Alembic pick-ups and the A-logo on its head and plays well enough to entertain my guests here ;)

All the bass
Jan

THAT is so cool !!! I guess in this case saying his tone sounded like it was "under water" is acceptable.

Good to hear from you Jan.  Interesting craft; makes for some pretty wild pictures of you just sitting there playing bass.

Looks like you're bringing a whole new meaning to the term "couch surfing"!

Awesome!

Jan this is just perfect!!! :)
The bass player’s function, along with the drums, is to be the engine that drives the car… everything else is merely colours.

So glad to finally hear from someone with an AJ! Please tell us more about it sometime. I don't think we even have a Showcase Thread for these, but I've always liked the design.

Very cool, though I believe brother Michael in New Orleans, (Dela217), may have claim to the first underwater Alembic!

I saw Michael's bass in the workshop back in 2012. Wonder what's happening to it these days.
