Another new guy in Connecticut
« on: December 21, 2018, 07:31:00 AM »
Hello friends. I'm thrilled to join this group, having just purchased the gorgeous 1977 Series I (Shedua Beeswing) below from rv_bass. The Beeswing grain pattern is throbbing with the power of low Hz harmonic waves.
I'm a great admirer of Phil Lesh (he was playing the Irwin and Modulus basses during my active Deadhead days). Learning how to make music with this beautiful beast is going to be a megaton blast.

Congrats and glad you found us!  It's an amazing bass and I'm glad it found a good home and someone who will appreciate it. People here are a wealth of knowledge, and there are some good FAQ pages to start with as well.  Thanks to Alembic for providing this space.  Enjoy the bass and the club!    :)

If this is your first Alembic you are in for a great first gig with it. Please share what you experience when gigging. :-)

Welcome to the club, Mark, and congratulations on the beautiful Series 1. If it's your first Alembic you should know that it won't be your only one for long. It's a sickness (in the best way imaginable).

Welcome to the camp Mark.

That wood grain is both complex AND simply beautiful.

Thanks for the kind welcomes.

The band loved my new bass. The lead guitarist builds Doug Irwin replicas, and he was very interested in everything about the Alembic. Then he told me to leave my jazz bass at home now (despite my protestations of a weary back). The singer told me to start lifting weights.
So, success. No gigs yet, but we're hoping to be locked in on enough material by spring.

Best wishes for a happy and healthy new year to all.

Wow.  I mean... wow.  I have seen hundreds of pictures of Alembics, that is one of the prettiest Instruments I have ever seen.  In that lighting, the close up pic looks like folds of satin in the wood.  Post a pic of the back, if you don’t mind.  And if you don’t mind...just curious... did you buy it from an individual or a shop?  We want details, man.😊.  Truly georgous.

I also meant to suggest... you have probably already figured this out, but you can post a request for Mica, at Alembic, to look the bass up and provide you with details of construction, if you haven’t already.  And you might want to register it on Alembic’s sight.  Again, you probably know this, but just in case, since you said you are new to the Club.
