Identifying basses by sound alone (Mark King playing)

Just dropped upon this on youtube just now.  A guy claims to be able to identify basses by their sound alone.

The identification and Mark playing starts just after 8:56.

(Ok, easy)
- "And this is a Fender Jazz"
(Hey, c'mon. Can do it, too)
- "That's the Alembic with old strings and filter rolled off 40%"
(Whaaaaat???)

Mentalist trick. No way that Spoiler sounded close to an Alembic as we know it...
