RIP Georgie Boy
« on: October 27, 2018, 02:46:28 PM »
I got sad news today that my friend & fellow Alembic brother George Waller Has passed away. He was known as Georgie Boy here in the Alembic Club. George was from Scotland & used to be pretty active here in the Alembic Club. We became good friends & emailed each other & sent each other packages from our countries with shirts & books & other items. I sent him a shirt & hat from my Band, The Nailers, & he sent me pictures of him wearing them & had me Photoshop him into pictures of famous places wearing them. Here are those pictures & others he sent me over the years.

His cause of death is unknown at this point but I will let you know if I hear anything. I know he had surgery last month but was recovering well from it.

Thank you for letting us know.

And yes, a long-time active member of the club; funny and full of knowledge and experience.  Our corner of the world has been made better by his presence.  Thinking of him now, the spirit he shared here brings a warm smile to my heart.  Thank you George for being a part of our lives.

Glad to hear from you Rusty.

Sad to hear about George.

Happy to hear about your true connection with him.

Hopeful that memories of George will soon turn brighter.   Death can make memories bring tears, eventually love brings the memories to joy and gratitude.

Exchanged a few emails with George back in 2007, reading them makes me smile again.

Sorry to hear about that, Rusty... I remember his postings from my first days hanging around here. Always seemed to be a friendly fellow.

Sad news, but glad to hear from you. Hope all's well down your way.  :)

Oh no! That's heartbreaking news. George was a great guy, arranged a venue for the first scottish alembic owners get together and always made the effort to come and hear an alembic being played. He was very proud to own an early series 1 which he believed had been owned by Norman Watt Roy.   Although we only lived 20 miles or so apart we rarely saw each other but when we did meet up he always had a smile.

I tried to post several pictures but it kept telling me the file size was too big, so here's some more....

Yes Edwin, George had the same birthday as my late brother who passed away in 2002. George would always message me on his birthday with a comforting message about the loss of my brother. He was a great guy!

George was a really great guy. He helped me with French translations, and if you had an email from George in your inbox, you knew it was going to be something good and fun. Gonna miss him dearly.
