Series 1 rechargable battery only lasting less than 10 hours
« on: October 21, 2018, 07:16:19 AM »
I recently purchased these Energizer rechargable batteries and I have them fully charged only to last about 8 hours of continuous use. I would like to know if I’m using the right kind of batteries for this bass.

Thanks!

I'n not surprised they have a short life span. Usually batteries in the series basses are expected to last about 20 hours. I think also rechargeables fade to a level where there is no output from the bass quicker that regular energiser or duracell batteries once they start to lose charge. For that reason I only use rechargeables for driving the LED's.
I am also wondering why you would use batteries to power the bass rather than using the alembic DS-5 power supply?
The sound of Alembic is medicine for the soul!

Well sometimes it's nice to have that option, but also have to agree with Jazzy... maybe you could try batteries that are made for tys (RC cars, Rc boats  and other things).

Usually 9v rechargeable batteries have around 250-300 mah, you can get ones that have 600 mah.
It maters what you need, highest-capacity or best low-discharge?

I didn't play around with it, but did some surfing, maybe this will help.

The bass player’s function, along with the drums, is to be the engine that drives the car… everything else is merely colours.

Hi jazzyvee, thanks for the reply. I do have a DS5 that I use most of the time but sometimes I use the batteries for backstage practice.

I have removed the battery from my Series I/II instrument . I did not want to forget to remove an old dead battery in the case of potential variations of leakage complications :)

The problem is that the rechargeable cells used in rechargeable batteries don't quite add up to 9V, they are more like 7 or 8V. As long as you're using it for a torch, 7V will be fine, but not so for a preamp, at least not for longer than 8 hours.

Thanks for everyone’s replies. I guess Ill have to retire these rechargables to some less stressful tasks. Ill go back to using non rechargables.

Thanks!
