I agree jazzyvee with your points. I also have seen them at Symphony Hall and other places and have always felt the bass drum was too loud in the mix, blocking the bass somewhat - but I generally think that anyway and MK was a drummer!! Pete RB is a lovely drummer.
I think I was more fortunate at Derngate with the sound but, as you say, the musicality, harmony and tightness is still all there in abundance. I just think, also, that MK comes over as a really nice bloke. I thought the Blow Monkeys chap was a bit arrogant but good voice and a rather tedious set - I remember the big hit that ended their set but didn't take a lot of notice of them back then.
Oddly, I was in Bristol this weekend and Level 42 were there on Sat - it was his 60th birthday - no I didn't send him a card even though I sort of expected to meet him in the street. I am 69 in December and don't seem to be able to act my age in this area!!!
