Another Strange One at Dock's
« on: September 23, 2018, 07:46:06 AM »

Listed as a Spoiler 5. And it is a Spoiler 5 body, with an accent laminate under the top, 3 purpleheart neck laminates and a crown headstock too!

Looks more like Distillate controls though, with a replaced knob and switch. This guy sure has some uber-cool, somewhat unique basses.

(but that "I'm not sure" bit on the Fernandes he had last month was silly)

Could be, Graeme... not sure exactly when Europa/Rogue came out. They are quite similar.

The listing is gone. Elan Plus and Distillate had the same controls which would fit the era. With the Elan using a pan and the Distillate a pickup selector. The one knob being different would fit with someone replacing the pointer knob with something not as dangerous so I lean to Distillate.

Actually Elan Plus is Elan with the Distillate bass and treble switches, but Elan Plus has the pan pot instead of the pickup selector switch that the Distillate has

Europa and Rogue share the same electronics.

I didn't see the listing, so I can't add anything specifically about that bass, sorry.

FYI, Dock's (Dock's Basses) Reverb account has been suspended.  :o
That is why the Reverb listing is not showing up.

However, the bass in question is also on ebay and can be seen here:

Somehow, I don't find that surprising.

Getting a better look at the picture I change my opinion to Elan Plus as it looks like a pan control with a replacement knob. It also appears that one of the switches has been replaced.

This is correct, it is a round replaced knob, but it "clicks" through 4 positions.  -A
