(x) History request for 1979 Series 1 #79 1469 USA
« on: August 25, 2018, 04:17:43 AM »
Hi I recently bought this beautiful short scale bass and am staggered by how close to new it looks for a near 40 year old bass. Hence I wondered if you have any history for it. Thanks!

deleted, didn't see your other thread. Posting there. Couldn't figure out how to delete this so if someone else could. Thank you.

Here's the details I found in the instrument file:

top: Walnut
accent: none
body: Mahogany
back: Walnut
neck: Maple and Purpleheart
scale: 30.75" short
fingerboard: Ebony
peghead veneers: Walnut
inlays: Mother of pearl
pickups: SC1 and HX
controls: "Series I" volume x2, filter x2, Q-switch x2, pickup selector switch, 5-pin and 1/4" stereo outputs
originally made for: Private individual, San Francisco, CA
birthday: November 27, 1979

The bass was refinished under warranty in September of 1980-the paint manufacturer changed the formula and this wasn't the only one we had to redo.
