California Wild Fires
« on: July 31, 2018, 11:34:40 AM »
I was wondering if everyone at Alembic is OK. with all the wildfires going on.
Prayers to everyone involved in California.
Any updates would be appreciated.

Thankfully we are still far from the fire activity, but it's very bad in the Redding area and Clear Lake now. Thank you for your kind thoughts, Willie.

The air in the Bay Area has been quite bad the past few days.  Very smokey with low visibility.  Some people wearing masks.

Yesterday my son in Sacramento said he couldn't see across the street from the smoke; his 1-y-o son & pregger wife are staying indoors until further notice. outdoors until further notice.

Still have masks left over from the Tubbs fire last year and have been wearing one when out walking Samson. It has been very smokey here in Oakland, hard to believe the fires are 160+ miles away.

Our part of the San Fernando Valley was very smokey a few days ago but the wind shifted again so we're clear now.  Still tinder dry though.

My wife is up in Sacramento and as Peter said, very bad air from the fire north of them.

We have lot's of musician friends out in the Thousand Oaks area who have had to evacuate but so far none have lost their homes.  We're keeping our fingers crossed.

This happened so quickly this year.  Fine one day and then the next day it seemed like the whole state caught fire.  Crazy.

Be safe everybody,
Jimmy J

My niece and nephew, who live 2 different places in SoCal, have been told to be ready to evacuate.  I saw blurb that said Neil Young had lost his home to that one (no word on whether Black, Hank, and Johnny got out).

Santa Ana winds where I'm at are a steady 15-20mph w gusts up to 50mph.  Humidity is below 10%.   Scary conditions anywhere in California at the moment.

I've read that Wayne Charvel (founded Charvel Guitars) has lost his home in Paradise, CA.

Seems that Lee Ritenour has been similarly affected.

The situation is scary.
