Looking for PJ/PVF Activator set
« on: June 28, 2018, 08:33:45 AM »
I am looking for a PJ/PVF Activator set for a project I have going on.

Would love to find a used set if possible.

If anyone has a set they could part with please let me know. Thanks!

I need exactly what is pictured here.

I want to add these to an Ibanez SR2000 bass that I have.
The Ibanez SR2000 is a great bass and plays really well. I love the feel of it.
It was the top of the line Ibanez bass back in the 90's when it came out.

This is the bass I am looking to install the activators into.

Good luck with the search. I've been curious lately about the sound of the Alembic PJ pickups. Do they sound at all like the AXY/MXY, or do they actually have more of the characteristic Fender sound?

They are on different basses, so there are more factors to determine the instruments sound. That said, all my activator (AXY-MXY-PJ) equipped Alembics sound like Alembic. :-)

My P/J equipped Persuader 5-string and AXY equipped Custom 5-string sound remarkably similar, though probably for a variety of reasons. But no, I would not say the Alembic PJ PVF set sounds anything like any Fender I ever played. I believe they were originally intended as an upgrade for Fender, or instruments routed for Fender type pickups. The shape is just for convenience of installation.  ;)

Meant to respond earlier - I Alembicized my white MIJ 70s P-Bass - added the Q-switch - I find that I can get a P-Bass sound out of it but it isn't limited to that. All I can really offer is recordings - the first two are more of a standard Fender kind of sound; AKA AFB is the filter almost all the way down but pre-Q-switch so the low frequency is really boosted; I think I went more extreme on AKA PHM & Noel & Billy.

J9,
I realize you posted this some time ago, but I have a NIB PJ Activator set that I might be willing to part with if you're still searching.
Best regards,
Jeff

Dang... saw your note this am, went straight to the link, and it was sold.  Exactly what I was looking for and for a fair price.  Thanks for the heads up.  I was just too late.

Hey Zomnius, I tried sending a pm, not sure if it went through.  Please let me know if you would sell a set and for how much. You can try pm, or post.   Thanks, Allen
