I saw Matt Murphy play with James Cotton at Brown University's Meehan Auditorium back in 1970. I was right directly in front of the stage.
It was fantastic!  Rest In Peace, Matt...

Yeah.That is very sad news but I didn't realize that he was 88yo.About 15 years ago he hired the band I was playing with to back him up for a show and he was the nicest person.Just a gem of a human being and WOW.What an entertainer/guitarist.Hell of a golfer too.  A few years ago he suffered a stroke and I didn't hear a whole lot from him.
