New member, new to Alembic
« on: May 23, 2018, 03:21:17 PM »
Hi everyone! After years of secretly (well maybe not too secretly) looking to move into the Alembic family. I finally have. Saturday I took a trip to Queens and purchased an 85 Spoiler. I can't say enough good things about this instrument. I'm beyond excited. I spoke with (I think it was Mica) and she confirmed the serial number. Such a huge relief  >.< I can be pretty impulsive, so yeah.  Hi everyone! :D Hmm I thought I attached a pic...

Welcome to the Alembic Family! My first Alembic was an '85 Spoiler too! (Well, it was a Spoiler Exploiter but still...) Enjoy getting to know your new bass!!!

Welcome!  And agreed, that's a nice looking Spoiler.

You might want to email Mica about sourcing a replacement knob for the pickup selector switch.

Welcome, Stefanie!!  (I think you're going to like it around here.)
I used to think I was indecisive, but now I'm not so sure.

Nice to meet you, Stefanie,

I also live in NY,

I remember my first Alembic ,  it was a Distillate Scorpion !

Looked like this example,

https://reverb.com/item/6698536-rare-alembic-scorpion-4-string-bass-distillate-great-condition-plays-sounds-fantastic

Bought it new back in the early 1980's  when Sam Ash used to carry Alembic instruments !

That was a loooong time ago , I feel so old !!

Thanks for the welcome, everyone! :D  I really appreciate it!

I did order a knob for the pickup selector switch. Also, waiting for a callback on a case, as well. Sadly, the Spoiler didn't come with a case. That wasn't a big deal to me though. At least, I have the goods! ;)

Thanks again for all the nice comments. The excitement is real, lol!

Welcome to the camp.

Just wait... I have had my Alembic for decades and the excitement remains!
Seriously, the over all quality of their instruments, the incomparable tone, the playability and of course the aesthetic beauty of it makes owning an Alembic a very special thing.
