1989 Modulus Graphite TBX-5 neck-thru model. Graphite neck, cocobolo top. No truss rod. The entire bass was recently refinished by Pat Wilkins. The gloss on the neck was just done a couple of weeks ago (I bought it with a 'knocked down' satin finish and Pat glossed it back up for me). Looks superb for its age. Low B sounds thunderous! I just bought a 1990 Alembic Elan 5, and I have a strict one in, one out rule now so the TBX must go.
Specs are as follows:
  • Neck-thru Modulus Graphite neck w/the KLD (1000 ladies dancing) pattern
  • Graphite nut
  • 1 3/4" at the nut
  • 2 7/8" at the 24th fret
  • Phenolic fretboard
  • Modulus GB70 tuners - Black (Brand New - just purchased from Modulus)
  • Alder wings with Cocobolo top
  • EMG 40DC dual-coil pickups
  • EMG BQC System electronics (vol/bal/stacked bass-treb/stacked mids). The mini-switch is not connected to anything
  • Fully adjustable black ABM brass bridge
  • Currently strung with Thomastik-Infeld JR345 Jazz rounds ($100 strings!)
  • Weight is just north of 8.5 lbs.
  • Includes Modulus Graphite hardshell case (condition of the case is a bit rough, but it will protect the bass during shipment)
  • $3900 + $100 shipping, CONUS. Everything I sell is professionally packed, shipped and fully insured through UPS.

That looks amazing. Why do these always pop up when I have no cash?

Where are you located?

Thanks! I understand. I went a bit overboard recently, which is the only reason I’n selling the TBX.

I’m in Philadelphia.

Very cool. I played a Quantum 4 Sweet Spot for a while. Belonged to the singer of a band I was in. We tuned down a 1/2 step, and then did a lot of drop C#, so the 35'' scale helped. I discovered that their "sweet spot" was centered right where the 36th fret would be. Then I discovered that's where a Rickenbacker bridge pickup sits. Which kind of led me back to Rics after many years away. =) For a few years my 4003S was equipped with just an EMG 35DC in the bridge position running through their BTS pre-amp.

Thanks Edwin and Gearhead! Yes Modulus basses are unique....the TBX line has a very warm ROUND solid tone that I really like!

It's true. Mine is pretty different from most of the ones I've seen out there. Pre-KLD.

Nice Edwin! you can still see the Alembic influence in your bass! The bridge and the knobs especially!!
What year is your bass?
